# Customizations and Upgrades

Players can mint new NFT cars by combining car chassis with customization items, such as spoilers, wheels, hats, or performance upgrades. The DRIFT Tokens used for this process are burned, creating a direct mechanism for token reduction.

## NFT Burn Mechanism & Modifying Cars

Cars can be burnt to unlock a Customisation Schematic for a part that was attached to it. The player will be able to choose which customisation is taken off the burnt vehicle. When a customisation is unlocked it will allow you to mint that customisation to ANY car that you own. You can choose to add this new customisation to any car and mint the car as your own unique NFT, that can be used for premium features or sold on a marketplace.\
This will allow players to unlock legendary parts for cars that can be used to upgrade and resell rare and unique vehicles.

### Customisation Schematics NFT

Customisation Schematics allow the player to mint new vehicles with this customisation attached. The mint price will increase based on the amount of customisations added and their rarity. Customisation Schematics can only be received via burning car NFTs or by trading with other players.

### **Tiered Burn Rates**:

To balance accessibility with token scarcity, the burn rate varies based on the rarity and type of customization:

* **Common Customizations**: 5% of the mint value burned.
* **Rare Customizations**: 10%.
* **Epic Customizations**: 15%.
* **Legendary Customizations**: 20%.
* **Performance Upgrades**: Additional 5-10% burned based on the level of enhancement applied.

This tiered system ensures that higher-value items contribute more to token burns, driving demand for rare and exclusive customizations.

### **Overriding Customizations**

To provide players with maximum flexibility and ensure the long-term utility of the customization system, Drift Derby allows players to interchange their customizations by **overriding existing customizations**.

* When a player applies a new customization to a car, the existing customization is **burned** in the process, permanently removing it from the game’s ecosystem.
* Overriding allows players to constantly adapt their vehicles to their preferred style or performance needs without creating surplus NFTs, contributing further to token and item scarcity.
* **Example**: If a player decides to replace a Rare spoiler with an Epic spoiler, the Rare spoiler NFT will be burned during the replacement process.

This mechanism ensures that players can enjoy flexibility and personalization while maintaining a balanced and sustainable in-game economy.
